Tsavo East National Park:
Located 333 km from Nairobi, the Tsavo East
National Park is one of the largest national
parks in Kenya. It covers an area of about
11,747 square kilometers. The park contains
some fantastic terrain, including rivers,
lakes, tarns, glaciers, peaks with a wide
variety of vegetation, including grasslands,
acacia vegetation, open plains and savanna.
It is therefore recognized as one of the
world's leading bio-diversity strongholds.
The park is also one of Kenya's oldest
national parks - it was opened in April
1948. Covering an area of about 40% of al
land covered by Kenyan national parks, this
park is a popular safari destination,
especially due to easy accessibility from
the coast. A number of tour guides offer
private safaris in the park. Camel safaris
are another unique feature of the park.
Spectacular views are yet another reason why
droves of photographers frequent the park.
Visitors can stay at different types of
accommodation offered. There is a large
lodge with about 104 beds, four tented camps
providing 92 beds, two more campsites
providing 36 beds, a self-help banda site
(12 beds) and nine more campsites. The park
authorities are planning further lodges and
tented camps. There are also 16 airstrips in
the area.
Some of the popular destinations within the
park include the Mudanda Rock and the Yatta
Plateau, which is the world's largest lava
flow. Luggard's Falls on the Galana River
include shapely water-worn rocks. Visitors
can view a variety of animals at the park,
including elephant, rhino, lion, leopard,
crocodile, waterbuck, kudu, gerenuk, zebra
and Aruba Hunter's hartebeest. Visitors can
try to observe the large herds of elephants
after their dust baths - they glow red as
they blow the red dust through the trunks.
There are also about 500 species of birds,
including the ostrich, and migratory birds
like kestrels and buzzards.
Lodges available are: Voi Safari Lodge, Voi
Wildlife Lodge, Tsavo Safari Camp, Kilalinda
Lodge, Ngutuni Lodge amongst many camping
grounds. We offer Safaris from Mombasa to
Tsavo East National Park & Tsavo West
National Park staying at Voi Safari Lodge,

Tsavo West National Park:
Bordering the South Serengeti Plains in
Tanzania lies the Tsavo West National Park
in Kenya. Covering a large area consisting
of diverse terrains, the park stretches
9,065 square kilometers at a distance of
about 240 km from Nairobi. It provides
diverse habitats for its animals as altitude
ranges from 500 ft to 6,000 ft above sea
level. Thus there are rivers, forests,
lakes, wooded grasslands and mountains, each
harboring a distinct set of animals.
The park became famous through the notorious
"Man Eaters of Tsavo" incident at the turn
of the century, when man-eating lions were
preying on the workers building the great
Uganda Railway. In fact, the carriage from
which they pulled a traveler is now on
display in the Nairobi Railway Museum. This
incident was also depicted in the popular
movie "Ghost and the Darkness."
The park is popular among visitors due to
easy accessibility - it is located off the
main Nairobi-Mombassa road. The park was
opened in April 1948. Plentiful
accommodation is available at the park.
There are three lodges within the park
offering 276 beds, four tented lodges with
154 beds, three public campsites, and a
special one, where advance booking is
required. And further, there are three
self-help banda sites totaling 72 beds.
Visitors can enjoy long walks along the
nature trails and explore the Chaimu
volcanic crater. They can also explore the
Shetani Lava Flow and a variety of caves in
the park.
There is a quite a variety of wildlife and
birdlife in the park. Over 600 species of
birds have been recorded. Moreover, game
viewing is fairly easy. Animals include the
leopard, cheetah, buffalo, rhino, elephant,
giraffe, zebra, lion, crocodile, mongoose,
hyrax, dik dik and porcupine.
The Mzima Springs is a major attraction for
visitors. There is a pool of natural spring
water with underwater viewing hides from
which one can observe the hippos. The Ngulia
Rhino Sanctuary is another safe haven for
rhinos. Finally, the park offers excellent
views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Lodges available are: Kilaguni Serena Safari
Lodge, Ngulia Lodge, Severin Safari Camp,
Finch Hattons Tented Lodge, Ziwani Tented
Camp and many camping grounds.
Amboseli National Park:
Amboseli National Reserve (Formerly Amboseli
National Park) is a place of stark contrast.
Meaning a "place of water" in Maasai,
Amboseli despite its sometimes dry and dusty
appearance, has an endless water supply
filtered through thousands of feet of
volcanic rock from Kilimanjaro's snow melt.
These underground streams converge into two
clear water springs in the heart of the
park.
The endemic dust is volcanic ash which
spewed from Kilimanjaro a millennia ago.
During the dry seasons, a curious feature is
the shimmering dry lake bed where false
mirages of populated horizons, punctuated by
real herds of zebras and wildebeests hover
in front of visitors. The principal
attraction in Amboseli National Reserve is
its vast herds of elephants within the park.
The bull elephants here have some of the
largest tusks in Kenya. Plentiful game
includes: zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala
and leopard. Caracal and African serval cat
can be seen. Birdwatchers can see pelicans,
bee-eaters, kingfishers, African fish
eagles, martial eagles and pygmy falcons.
Amboseli National Reserve is an important
rangeland in Maasai culture. The ranch areas
outside the park offer a wealth of game
viewing and walking safaris. The Kenya
Wildlife Community Service works closely
with the local elders to develop eco-tourism
attractions which benefit the indigenous
communities and protect this fragile
eco-system.
One of the most popular parks in Kenya,
Amboseli National Park offers a wide range
of accommodation within and just outside the
park. Accommodations at Amboseli National
Park available at Amboseli Serena Lodge,
Oltukai Lodge, Amboseli Sopa Lodge, Tortilis
Camp & Kibo Safari Camp.
Location:
On the border with Tanzania, Kajiado
District, South Kenya; Covers 392km Sq.
Access to Amboseli National Reserve is
either by road or air.
Climate:
The climate is mainly hot and dry. Amboseli
National Park is in the rain shadow of Mt.
Kilimanjaro. The maximum average temperature
of the warmest month is 33°C during the day,
while that of the coldest is 27-28°C. An
annual rainfall of 300mm per annum is
distributed in two seasons: April/May and
November/December. Safaris from Mombasa to

Masai Mara National Reserve:
Masai Mara Game Reserve is perhaps most
famous for its lions. All other members of
the "Big Five" are to be found in the Maasai
Mara, although the population of black
rhinoceros is severely threatened, with a
population of only 37 recorded in 2000.
Hippopotami are found in large groups in the
Masai Mara and Talek Rivers. Cheetah are
also to be found, although their numbers are
also threatened, chiefly due to tourist
disruption of their day-time hunting. As
mentioned above, the plains between the Mara
river and the Esoit Oloololo Escarpment are
probably the best area for game viewing, in
particular regarding lion and cheetah: Masai
Mara safari tour packages
Like in the Serengeti, the wildebeest are
the dominant inhabitant of the Masai Mara,
and their numbers are estimated in the
millions. Around July of each year these
ungainly animals migrate in a vast ensemble
north from the Serengeti plains in search of
fresh pasture, and return to the south
around October. The Great Migration is one
of the most impressive natural events
worldwide, involving an immensity of
hervibores: some 1,300,000 Wildebeest,
360,000 Thomson's Gazelle, and 191,000
Zebra. These numerous migrants are followed
along their annual, circular route by a
block of hungry predators, most notably
lions and hyena.
Numerous other antelope can be found,
including Thomson's and Grant's gazelle,
impala, topi and Coke's hartebeest. Large
herds of zebra are found through the
reserve. The plains are also home to the
distinctive Masai giraffe as well as the
common giraffe. The large Roan antelope and
the nocturnal bat-eared fox, rarely present
elsewhere in Kenya, can be seen within the
reserve borders. The Maasai Mara is a major
research centre for the spotted hyena.
Additionally, over 450 species of birdlife
have been identified in the park, including
vulture, marabou, secretary bird, hornbill,
crowned crane, ostrich, long-crested eagle,
and pygmy falcon.

Masai
Mara - Serengeti wildebeest migration:
Wildebeest migration to and back from Serengeti into
the Maasai Mara is the single most popular wildlife
spectacle in Kenya. The wildebeest migration is such
a phenomenon it involves movement of over 1 million
animals crossing plains and rivers in the Mara
migration. River crossings are the most spectacular
where the wildebeest of
Mara jump into rivers full of crocodiles and surging
currents. The wildebeest is feted as the clown of
the Savannah. Also known as a gnu, the animal has a
structure resembling a young horse with a heavily
built frontal shoulders and chest and a slender
posterior. Its legs are so slender it’s intriguing
how it supports the proportionately larger body
frame. The ‘clown’ title results from its unusual
behavior considered to other bovids, for example a
gnu herd will usually scatter in different
directions when attacked by a lion.

Lamu Town began life as a 14th century Swahili
settlement. But the island has seen many
visitors and influences, including Portuguese
explorers, Turkish traders and the Omani Arabs.
Despite all these influences, Lamu developed its
own particular culture which has ultimately
endured. The island is a beautiful place of
rolling dunes and endless beaches, where tiny
villages nestle among coconut and mango
plantations and lateen sailed dhows ply the
waters. Dense mangrove forests fringe the
mainland and the inland sides of the island. The
beach on Lamu Island is 12km of empty sands
backing on to an ocean protected by a reef...Read

Mount Kenya: Mount Kenya National Park
Mount Kenya plays a crucial role in the life of
the country being Kenya's single most important
permanent watershed and her largest forest
reserve. The fertile soils of its lower slopes
also sustain the growth of the nation's richest
farmlands whilst much of its vegetation is
globally unique. In recent years, however, the
Mountain has suffered greatly from the adverse
effects of deforestation, resulting in large
tracts of its lower slopes being entirely
denuded of trees and occupied by squatters. And,
although much of the vast forest cover remains
intact, the growing demand for timber (Kenya's
staple construction and fuel source) threatens
to lead to even more serious deforestation and
subsequent soil erosion.....Read

Shaba National Reserve
It is impossible to talk about the Shaba National
Reserve without mentioning Samburu National Reserve,
and Buffalo Springs National Reserve, because they
are all intertwined, and they form a trio of unusual
and attractive game sanctuaries, and all neighbours.
Shaba is a relatively small National Park being a
little over 239 sq. kms, and it is only 70 kms north
of Mount Kenya, at an altitude varying between
700-1500metres.
Visitors go to Parks to see wildlife, and the Shaba
Game is outstanding. You have a very good chance of
seeing Giraffe, Cheetah, leopard, and lion. You can
add to this gazelle, oryx, zebra, and Gerenuk, but
of course it is the predators that are most sought
